The Minecraft Fall 2025 'Copper Age' Update: New Tools, Copper Golems & Storage

Minecraft Fall 2025 'Copper Age' Update: New Tools, Copper Golems & Storage

Minecraft has just announced “The Copper Age,” also known as the Fall Game Drop 3, which is the third major drop in the 2025 update cycle. This update is expected to be released later this year, adding numerous new uses for copper and enhancing gameplay with a fresh new set of armour and tools, storage systems, and the copper golem.

What makes this update the biggest copper overhaul and so exciting for many Minecraft builders, survival players, and fans? Let’s find out!

1. Copper Armour and Tools: better upgrade from stone before iron.

Copper was mostly a decorative block that could be made into stairs, slabs, and lighting rods; however, it was still rarely used by many players. The Copper Age fixes this by adding a full set of copper tools, such as a sword, pickaxe, axe, hoe, and shovel, a full set of copper armour, like the helmet, chest plate, leggings, and boots, as well as copper horse armour.

The copper tools have better durability than stone, but slightly less than iron, and are easier to obtain. Copper armour has more points than leather, and fewer than iron.

Leggings 1 1 ½ ½
Boots ½ ½ 1

Copper armour and tools are a smart upgrade choice from stone and can make for a great combo with iron.

2. Copper Golem and Copper Chest

The Copper was first revealed in 2021 as part of the mob vote and has remained a community favourite ever since. This cute golem is summoned by placing a carved pumpkin on top of a copper block. they will organise your base by emptying the copper chest and sorting the items into matching storage chests.

Over time, the copper golem oxidises into a decorative statue, with one of the four possible poses. Tip: When the golem is first made, it can be waxed with honeycomb to prevent oxidising into the statue stage entirely. The statues can be connected to Redstone comparators for automation and to create secret entrances.

3. Shelves: better displays and storage

Shelves are a new way to display items, and can hold up to three full stacks of items. They can be helpful by allowing you to quickly grab your items to go. These can be made from all wood types to match your theme.

4. Decor and Aesthetics: Torches, Chains, and more!

Copper can be aesthetic with its rustic style! Expect more copper variants such as torches and lanterns with beautiful green flames, plus new chains and bars, which can be great for themed builds and Halloween too. These new items can still oxidize, so to prevent this, remember to wax the items after crafting.

The lanterns, because of their bright green colour, look stunning with Vibrant visuals and raytracing. If possible, give it a try after building.

Release Date and Time.

At the time of writing this article (September 2025), no official release date has been confirmed for the Copper Age update. Though the community expects it within the next month, potentially overlapping with a winter update.

Currently, testing is available,  Java snapshots and Bedrock beta/preview versions allow players to preview features in the copper age update, like the copper golems, tools, shelves, decor, and even known bug fixes.

This is a major update because it;

- Improves progression between stone and iron, creating a strong mid-tier level.

- Boosts organisation by adding copper golems and shelves.

- Enhances builds with new decor and copper-themed items!

- Widens creativity and ideas, from redstone puzzles to amazing builds using new chains, lanterns, and shelves.

- Adds so many new uses for copper, as it was rarely used previously. After all, it is the Copper Age update!

Tips for preparing and maximising the copper age.

- Stockpile copper; you’ll need enough for tools, chests, decor, and golems.

- Check out the previews; backup your worlds before trying features in snapshots or betas.

- Have a beehive nearby; you'll need the honeycomb to wax the copper items if you don't want them to oxidise.

- Explore redstone options; remember, copper golem statues can be used for automation.

- Take advantage of any copper duplication glitches; every while, different glitches may cause duplication; however, some may only work on previews and get fixed immediately.

In conclusion, the Copper Age update gives copper the overhaul it really needed, making copper a fun and more useful ore. You will now have access to smarter storage, new redstone ideas, good mid-tier armour and tools, and copper aesthetics in different ways. Stay tuned for its official release.
